Ticking noise when key turned on?

Is it normal for my 03 stock diesel to make a ticking noise when the key is turned on before I start it? It lasts a couple of minutes then stops. It sounds like it's coming from the front of the engine but is hard to pinpoint exactly where it's coming from.

Thanks Dean

IIRC its the #1 and #6 injectors bleeding the air out of the system.

All so your fuel pump set beside the fuel filter it comes on when you turn the key on so it could be what you are hearing.

From what I understand it just fires the injectors and the air thats in the system gets pushed out. There is no fuel pressure so no fuel comes out... That's what I read at one point.
