Throttle Reset

You may all already know this, but here is something that I found out from talking with a Cummins tech. Before starting your engine, turn your key to the on position (to where the heater light comes on) depress the throtle 4 to 5 times all the way to the floor. Turn the key off. Wait 3 minutes. Start the truck and go. This resets the throtle positioning to the ECM.

KJRessler I thought I might want to try this. Atv least its a test that doesn't cost $

Why would you have to wait for 3 minutes? That doesn't make any sense to me.

Me! I'll try anything once...well almost anything. Seriously, lately my throttle seems to require me to push a little farther to get it to go. I don't think it is the cable stretching. It used to be immediate response - now it almost feels like a very slightly delayed reaction when lightly stepping on the peddle.

Will post tomorrow how it went - too rainy to go out now and play around with the truck.

I suspect the three minute delay is so that the dissapate -- na not diesel. Hmm maybe we are being duped.???

Tob,

I don't believe we have a throttle cable, these trucks are fly by wire.

I'll bite, sometime the truck has a mind of it's own, I'll be at a light and let out the clutch and give it a little go pedal and it takes off like it's floored?
