tc lockup
tc lockup
my tc does not lock until 48 to 50 mph (48re)

is this normal as i thought my old 47re did it a lot sooner

does the computer tell it when to lock or is it programed to lock at a certain speed
Re:tc lockup
That sounds right for lockup in OD. It does however lockup in 3rd as well. Can't recall what speed. For OD lockup, speed is part of it but throttle position plays a part as well. Could be other parameters but those would be two key ones.
Re:tc lockup
You'll see a reduction in rpm as the TC locks up. If all you looked at was rpms, the points you'd see where rpms drop would be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd lock, 4th, and 4th lock. If you are heavy on the throttle, I don't know if you skip 3rd lock or not (3rd straight to 4th).
Re:tc lockup
i really like it when going slow and i locks up in second

never could do that with the 47re

does ford or chevy lock in first gear

would this be any benefit at all if it did
Re:tc lockup
OK, when does the tc unlock? The engine in mine drops to idle every time I'm decelerating through 45 mph. At this rate, brakes aren't going to last long.
