FYI After the conversion the fuel pump runs for a good 30 seconds on a cold start, on the first key-on...

Thanks for the information. Should make it easier to trouble shoot.

Spoke with the dealer today. They havn't been able to get the fuel pressure to fluctuate regardless of whether the engine/system was hot or cold. He said that there are no codes that show on their handheld scanner but don't understand why the P0628 still shows on the trucks 3-key turn. I asked if when they changed the pump did they reprogram the ECM. He indicated that the tech had done this. They are keeping it another day to see if something changes and to talk with DC to see why the code still shows.

Any suggestions???

I recently had the fuel transfer pump retrofit performed on my truck so far so good. I had spoke to a dealership head mechanic and he told me that the transfer pump would fail after about 100,000 miles it failed at 61,000. $ 737.00 to fix but all was covered by the cummins 100,000 mile warranty. That same mechanic also said when the new ULSD hits the fuel stations and those who are running enhanced engines will start to have lots of problems. I plan on staying with it just like it was built.

Well, I spoke with the dealer today. They have not been able to get it to fail. They did contact DC and were able to have the P0628 code cleared from the 3-key test. I pick it up tonight and then head out east tomorrow. Hopefully I won't run into any problems.

Sounds exactly like what happened to me. If I were you I'd take a voltmeter/test light, some clip leads, some wire, and make sure you can hotwire that relay if you need to....

It is my experience that the advisors at the dealer are idiots. Get in the shop and start shooting the **** with the techs. At least they have half a clue. I'm thinking the better option is to just put an aftermarket lift pump in by someone who has a figured out that they should be in buisness for themselves or at least a qualified guy they have hired. I have lots of employees and know some ex dealer techs and they agree the dealership is 80% retard techs. Warrany work may be worth the extra drive to get to a tech who really cares or has a clue. I got a refferal for such and it worked out for me. I like to interview techs before I let them tear into my $40,000 truck. Anyway.

I am dying to know how the ULSD will affect my "enhanced engine" Sounds to me like the tech you were dealing with is one of the 80% retarded mentioned above.

Oh yeah, ULSD has been in my area for a couple/few months now, and no problems on my enhanced engine
