Question Stock temp gauge question...

Hi i have a question, i do a lot of hauling and i am running completely stock, no gauges or anything. I called the dealer today asking about gauges and warranty and im kinda worried about installing them due to the drilling and possible void of warranty... anyways what im wondering is when i am pulling i see the my temp gauge rises above 200* quick goin uphill. without having any gauges i know that the gauges catch a lot more heat way before the stock temp gauge does so is there a certain temp i should be carefull and back off the pedal when i see the stock temp gauge rising? untill i get gauges this is all i have to go by, thanks for the help

Eric

I installed a Cummins 180 stat in mine and even when towing my temps never go above 200. In fact, that's the only time it might go that high. Mine normally stays right around 180-185. Just keep the A/C on because that will make the cooling fan run and you won't have any problems.
Before the 180 stat mine did the same as yours.....

I wouldn't worry about it either way with a stock rig. The rise on the gauge is happening because the fan will only kick on when needed. Mine will run up a little above 200°, the fan kicks on and it will come back down. Unless you're pulling WAY over rated max, hammer down!!!
