I took my truck in for a knock in the engine and wanted the engine software updated.First time in they said they could not verify the noise and there was no newer software.
I kind of got PO'd because they didn't even drive the thing as indicated by the odo and so I called the service manager and let him know that the truck didn't even get driven.So any how he said bring it back and I did.They said the heavy knock was normal and then they updated the software and now my engine is rattleing (not the knock)and and has never sounded so crappy.Driving down the road at 2,000 I can hear the engine rattling.
Any one else have this happen?

My 05 used to rattle in that RPM range, but only in 6th gear. Irritated me to no end. To me it sounded like the tranny but it seemed to far forward. Thought maybe it was an injector (I think the 05's had an issue with #6 injector which is right by the firewall). But it was more of a rattle, not a tick. Now at 68K miles, I havent heard it in awhile.

 

You know thats when I hear it now that I think about it.6th Gear. I know for sure it did not do it before the software update.
I am now thinking that maybe I should get a Smarty Jr.
Do you have a tuner on yours?

No tuners here. All stock. I cant give you anything definative that stopped the rattle. I never really new if it was in the engine or the tranny. It started around 25K miles and stopped ~65K miles. The truck has only seen the dealer for regular maintenance. No software updates ever.
