I received my Smarty Jr. on Thursday and installed it on the economy setting.
Friday I left on an 800 mile trip. My observations are: it is very smooth, you don't know it is not stock until you really need power to merge on the freeway. Even though it takes more than one trip in the flatlands to verify mpg, (because of wind conditions). I had never broken 22 mpg on freeway driving, but this time I got a tad over 23. The engine seems a bit more noisy, but nothing to complain about: I am very pleased.

The first setting "1" is the economy setting.

I put mine one "3" performance and it appears I'm getting better mileage as well. But I need to confirm.

 

When you say the engine seems a bit more noisy , can you elaborate. Does it sound like injector rattle?? Did it happen

 

The first program to come up on the smarty Jr. says economy on the screen.

 

Maybe a little, but mostly like a general diesel noise. It is not near as noisy as my old 98 was, but still a bit more than before. My wife did not notice any difference becasue she is not tuned into engine sounds.

 

The engine is slightly louder than stock. Not annoying but noticeable to the tuned ear.
