Slop in Driveline
Slop in Driveline
I have an excessive amount of slop in my driveline. Clunking is common when offroading. I went underneath and seems the rear driveshaft has a lot of rotational play into the transfer case...seems like some 10 to 20 degrees. Also has some radial play, but no leakage. Ujoints seem OK. I took it to the dealer to have the air conditioner vent actuator replaced a couple of years ago, and asked them to look into the driveline as well...the response was "it is a 4 wheel drive and they have a lot of slop" I know they were BSing, but I am also wondering about tolerences on Dodge trucks...as I can not find any information on what is acceptable for the rotational play on drivelines. I also have a whine in the driveline somewhere. Anyone else have this problem(s)?
I want to take it in before installing a lift.
TIA
