Question Slight Front Suspension Vibration Problem/Question....

I have a quick question for everyone. I have a slight vibration/rattle in what I think is somewhere in the front suspension of my truck. It only happens when I am driving below 20 MPH and only on very small bumps such as expansion joints or very small potholes. It is not enough to be really concerned about but I would kind of like to know if anyone else has heard this out of their truck before. I don’t even feel it through the steering or in the cab but I can hear it like something might be just a little loose. The truck drives fine and rides great. I would hate to take it back to the dealer for something like this. I’m afraid all I would get from them is a "could not duplicate" on the work order.

Thanks in advance

Britt

I to have had this problem with my new Dodge, we did change the schocks and that has helped greatly. I have read in other forums that you should replace your schocks at 20 thousand miles. Since I have done this, I still have the vibration problems although it is not a bad as it was, and I can handle my truck now. I still hear the klunk in the front end. No one can find out what it is. Hope my little info helps.

AZ42girl,

thank you for your reply and welcome to the site!

you will find a lot of great information around here. fill out your signature for us so we can see what kind of truck your driving.

i kind of thought about the shocks too. i have been under my truck and messed around with the shocks but couldn't duplicate the sound. like i said... i don't think it is bad enough to take it to the dealer but i would kind of like to know what is making it.

thanks and once again welcome!

1. Brake Pads.

2. Trackbar mounts.

3. Steering stabilizer.

4. Drive shaft. (Front)

Then there's the fooler... If a longbed, then look at the driveshaft extension mount and bearing. Under some conditions the rubber mount seems to rot quickly. We just did one on my son's 01. Nothing really wrong, but vibes that are VERY hard to place.

Thanks nord,

That’s what I was looking for. I can make the front drive shaft make what seems to be a similar noise but I’m not sure if that is it or not. It has a little play in it and when I turn it by hand it will make what seems to be the (same?) noise.

Thanks again

Britt
