slack in the drive line
slack in the drive line
I've had my truck since april, and have done alot of pulling with the truck. I have noticed the last several times that I have pulled my trailer, which a 24 ft flat deck 6700lbs empty, that when I am going down the road at a smooth speed and let off of the fuel there is kind on a jerk in the truck.Ithought that it might be the trailer but when I pulled my cattle trailer it done the same thing.when I am empty it is not as bad, just when I get on it hard.Any help would be great. I done like the book said and waited until the truck had a 1000 miles before i pulled and the broke it in slow to heavy weights. Thanks

Check over your motor mounts and tranny mounts. You could have one prematurely wore, or perhaps not properly bolted down from the factory. I have a Detroit locker in mine, which has a lot of lash built in. Just by making my own tranny mounts 80% of that lash was gone(meaning, of course, that the lash was actually in the tranny mounts...). Also check for loose u-joints in the driveshaft. Hope this helps...
hey thanks for the input. I will check on that. You would think that a new truck you would not have to worry about loose motor mounts and u joints with under 10000 miles. Has any one else out there had this problem?
If it just started happening, and wasnt doing it before, you probably have a bad u-joint. One way to tell is to take it for a ride then get under the truck and feel them. The bad one (ones) will be a hot or hotter than the others. How many miles on your truck?
it seems that the 05 trucks have this problem. My truck currently has 7500 miles on it. I contacted the dealer about this and they seemed to think everything was normal,go figure. Still would hate to think that a new truck would have bad u joints.

I don't think it's all U-joint related. There is alot of stuff in the drive line and if each or a few have a little slop it adds up to slop you can feel. Transmisssion to transfer to drive shaft to rear end and all the U-joints in between.
