Silencer ring removal

I have tired several times and I for the life of me can not get the ring clamp off. Can anyone give me any tips on how to remove the ring clamp? thanks

I have been thinking about removing mine. My brother in law works at Cummins Atlantic. Had him ask if removing the ring will hurt anything. They though it might not be a good idea, something about possible turbulence? Any proof to the contrary?

You will read arguments both ways here. I took mine out at about 5k miles and now have 80k miles and I have not had any noticeable issues.

the silencer ring and the insides of the turbo to filter box reduce turbulence and guide the air into the center of the compressor to reduce side shear and improve efficiency, leave every thing alone and add a psm kit and replace the filter with the new mopar filter.
