Shifting 2,4,6 Only?
Shifting 2,4,6 Only?
Anyone with a 6 speed shifting in 2,4,6 only?
They seem to be about 1000 RPMs apart.
Normaly shifting at around 2200 RPMs unloaded.
Any Thoughts?

Re:Shifting 2,4,6 Only?
My shift pattern is normally 3, 4, 5, 6.....or 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...depending on the conditions I'm starting out at. I typically shift around 1800 RPMS...and I'm pretty much always unloaded since I have nothing to tow. :'(
Re:Shifting 2,4,6 Only?
I used to do the 2,4,6 thing a long time ago, but usually do the 2-6 routine now.
Like Spots said, shift however it floats your boat. Its all fun and good!

I would wait until the transmission is broken in before skipping gears. Just to be sure that all the gears are lapped in. I started skipping at the 5k mark.

What is this clutch you speak of?? I only use it to start out, otherwise I float between'em. Might as well save the disc as long as possible, not racing anyone anyway.

I have about 2500 miles on mine, and I always start out in second, except when I'm towing. I'm going to start in first from now on for a while until it's broken in right. Seems to work fine though

Re:Shifting 2,4,6 Only?
Hey daren, what rpm's for which gear do you float in and out at. Just curious how your gates are set up. Thanks and I genearlly use 2-6 but on occassion exercise the 1-6 or the 2,4,6 just to keep things exciting.
Re:Shifting 2,4,6 Only?
I run about 1800 to 2000 but can slide all the way to 3000 and it still does fine. I am still getting used to sliding down the gears. Going up is easier than down, so far. I have not used 1st very often but the wife does, she cannot get used to starting in 2nd yet.

Funny you should say that. My wife will only start out in 1st also. And when I drive her car I stall it in second when my brain is off..duh :

Boy am I glad to see somebody else talk about stalling a car. I tried to start out in second gear in a Honda the other day. You should have seen the dirty looks I got from traffic. I usually run the gears 2-6.
