Serpentine Tensioner and Pulley

Im getting ready to do some maintenance and have been noticing a sqeek coming from what I suspect to be the tensioner pulley. I figure I am going to do the water pump, thermostat, coolant flush, and tensioner pulley all at the same time. I see Genos has just the pulleys or the whole assembly. Id rather not get into tearing stuff apart prior to having my parts so the question is do the tensioner assemblies need to be replaced or just the pulley? Im at 84,XXX miles.

I replaced the whole tensioner. I dont know if you can just get the pulley. Also check the idler, mine had slight play in it so I changed it while I had everything apart.

And if you do buy a tensioner get a Gates. The Dayco's are weaker by design and are known to crack.

Just the tensioner assembly is weaker? The only replacement pulley Genos offeror is the Dayco, but they do offer the whole assembly by Gates.

IIRC Dayco pulleys are made from plastic. Gates are metal. Personally I would replace the whole assembly with Gates.

How do the Goodyear assemblies compare with Gates? They look stout at least by pictures.

The Goodyear and Gates tensioners are the same product. You can get the Gates tensioner at Napa. The Goodyear/ Gates are also available at RockAuto and Amazon.
