S&B or Volant intake

Seem like quit a few people are using S&B intakes. The Volant intake looks like S&B & you can add air scoop to the Volant. So do they both use the same size filter? I ask because someone with the S&B intake replaced the filter with Amsoil eaa filter. I want to use an Volant intake & the dry Amsoil eaa filter. I'm not a fan of oil bath filters.Banks is coming out with new intake. From what I've seen it should be a real air mover, BUT it's wet & in the mid $400.00 range.

I would like to point out to you the the Airaid, K & N , and other filters of that type are not "oil bath filters" Oil Bath filters are the type that used to be on the old VW's that you put a certain amount of oil in the pan below the horse hair filter, one of the most effective filters there is.

I think he means an oiled cotton gauze type filter, like a k&n.

Good question though. I have been kind of sitting on the fence about which intake to buy. I like both the S&B and Volant because the airbox has a lid, working in dusty dirty conditions an open airbox with an exposed filter just isn't an option.

Is there something special about the Volant that makes it worth the extra dollars?

Just to throw it out there, they finally did their intake shootout in Diesel Power, and check out the big rig Megacab in the new Diesel World.

I have the Volant but the S&B looks like a good system.I had the AFE stage 2 on my 03 H.O. and on my 04.5 Duramax and I will say that the Volant is staying alot cleaner longer in the same conditions.I think the closed airbox design is the ticket in certain driving conditions.Later.
