After the truck sat in the lot today, 68 degree high, rough idle seems to be gone and NO WHITE SMOKE... ..Hope it stays that way.
I'm still going to give it a couple more days to make sure or if its just a fluke.
I'll keep updating......

It might be a good idea to change the fuel filter at every oil change. It seems that the DC suggested interval is too long. It may cost more in the short term, but it may save you later on.

Guys,
Looks like maybe the fuel filter fixed my issues
I haven't had any smoke or rough idle in a couple of days now....I'm still keeping my eye on it though.
I'll let everyone know if the smoke reappears or rough idle. Thanks again to everyone for the help and advice.

That's good news!
Mine has gone too and I think it may have something to do with it not being as cold this week as it was last week. I put the Quad box back on today and all seems well at the moment.

Hey Greg, glad to hear it was something simple and inexpensive. What I meant by changing the filter in my above post was that 15k seems to be a little too long, (which is what is recommended by Dodge) because mine did the same at around 15400. Not a good thing to restrict the fuel to the point that it causes these symptoms. So, I'm thinking that 7500 mile oil change interval along with a fuel filter (Dodge recommended oil change interval) would be better than every other oil change. That's my thinking anyway, so you can decide what's best for your truck.

Dodgezilla, I took my Quad box off too when it started acting up. Still haven't put it on yet though, I'm waiting for the warm weather. They say that it'll be getting towards the 60s this week, so maybe it'll get done then.

But then again, my wife is to get other things done too.

Yeah, me too.... I change my oil at 5000 miles (a little conservative I know) and had been changing fuel filter every other oil change (10k).
I think I might start changing every oil change. I would rather be out the $12-$13 extra and err on the safe side. Not much $$$$ to have the peace of mind....
Oh, still no smoke or rough idle.....really cleaned the truck up today...
wash, wax, vacuum, cleaned windows, used never dull(GREAT STUFF) on the wheels, westin ovals, diamond plate mud guards, and tailpipe....6 hrs
She really looks GOOD though...I hope to get some pics tomorrow
You guys take care and thanks for the help....

This morning the truck burped upon starting it with the Quad box on. I had already driven 35 miles or so and shut it down. When I restarted it took a split second longer to crank and burped once it finally started. It ran fine after that. I pulled it off again to see if it is indeed the Quad box that is causing my issues.

Watch for the dreaded white smoke, and rough idle. That new truck shouldnt lope or cough at all. Try without the Quad box, and if it still does it take it to the dealer by the airport, ask for Dwayne.

HEY ...TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN...

WHEN WE CHANGE FUEL FILTERS ON THE BIG TRUCKS WE 1/2 FILL THE FILTER WITH POWER SERVICE ... that way the Pump, injectors, and vital parts get a good cleaning....

JUST MY .02

I run additive in the fuel. I'm not sure I would want to dump that much PS directly in the filter bowl of my primary vehicle.

Yeah the PS is the bowl does not sound like a great idea....
I have had this prob on my 06...had injectors tested...OK...
I belive that it is bad fuel because I can duplicate the symtoms (cranky, rought idle, white smoke) by filling up at a certian mom&pop station in the local mountains....i stay away from older stations now and the truck runs fine...
kinda funny though, my 04.5 starts on the tap of the key EVERYTIME...and it gets abused!!!!

I never had one issue with my 03 either. I just wish I had gotten the 6-speed back then and I would still be driving it. I love the 6-speed compared to the wishy washy auto trans....
