I'm not doubting you and I certainly don't know the differences, but what your saying is reason enough NOT to use the CJ oils if they're barely good for the factory drain intervals. Are there any hard facts on the properties lost in the CJ oils?

I use it in my truck. And I can't believe the amsoil boys havent jumped on this thread yet to offer you some koolaid.

have used the rotella synthetic since my 2nd oil change owning the truck. have no problems with it- local walmart carries it by the gallons so its easy to find

Over on TDR there was a guy who hauls RV's for a living, and several others who run the CJ oils 20,000 miles (Dyno) with good results. Then more and more chimed in and it seels they are OK... I only stick to the factory intervals anyway... Just helping

I thought at one time valvoline was bringing back a classic valvoline that was CI+? Im going to take a sample of my oil now and take a sample after my next with CJ. Interested...I will have a bypass though this coming change.

Unfortunately......though.....Rotella Syn has now switched to that darn CJ Blend oil...

I have enough of the CI 4+ blend for 3 more oil changes...then I gotta make a decision. It may be VPB Classic or John Deere. Im staying away from CJ oil if at all possible.

You can add Mobil Delvac to your possibles list. Its still CI-4+

I have 24 gallons in my garage right now.

They keep offering $3 per gallon rebates and I keep buying it.

Just about any quality oil with corrct credentials will work well. The synthetics seem to have a edge under extremelly hot, estreme loading, and extended drain intervals. Personally take old 5-40 rotella to 20,000 miles and EOA shows still good enough to continune for more miles. Just my personal experience.

It is switched to the CJ blend too. Now that is not to say you can't find a bottle of the old stuff laying around, but.....

the old debate will it hurt to run synthetic in winter, and dino the rest of the year? anybody have lots iof miles with this combo not just opinion? tyring to get faster warm up in cold months instead of 15w40

I run Rotella 5w-40 syn all year long, and that's towing my 11k toyhauler in 115* weather here in AZ. Honestly I dont see the need to switch back and forth, unless your doing it only to save $$$.

What prices are you guys paying for the Rotella syn 5-40? Auto Zone is charging $19.99/gallon. Wal-Mart raised the price to $22/gallon. I originally planned to run 15-40 in the summer and 5-40 in the winter. After seeing and hearing the cold start improvement with 5-40, I never switched back.

The new Rotella syn CJ formula is now $20 at wally. It use to be 16.88 when it was CI formula. Guess it's on to Amsoil as soon as I run out of my stock.
