Back up honk.

Not sure, but it should apply to you. My buddy has an '06, and he found the fix in of all places, the owner's manual. The procedure has to many steps for me to remember, but it should be in the book. Good luck.

On page 263/264 of my '06 manual under "Out of Park Sense Alarm" it explains how this annoying feature works but does not show how to disable it (I can't find it anyhow). Drives me nuts also when attaching plow or trailer. Would sure luv to turn it off! And the neighbors would appreciate it also I'm sure

Set your transmission from "slush box" to "manual". Bingo - peace and quiet!

On page 263 of my owners manual it says this ("out of park sense alarm") will be activated under the following conditions:

engine running
foot off the brake
driver's seat belt unbuckled
and drivers door open.

This super-annoying feature will continue until one of the conditions is met:

engine is turned off
trans in park
driver's door is closed
driver's seat belt is buckled
brakes applied.

So it sounds like you can either buckle the driver's seat belt or apply the brakes so the horn doesn't blast while you have the door open and in drive.

Wish I had use for the manual shift, woulda saved 2K too.
Would luv to be neighbor of the idiot at DC that decided the horn blasting and lights flashing was the BEST fix for this shifter/park problem. Bet they'd come up with a way to disable it quick then.
My truck is going in tomorrow so dealer can try fix my HARD/poor shifting tranny. Gonna see if they can disable this alarm somehow. I'll post if I'm successful.

Bad news, direct from DC, the annoying "Out of Park Sense Alarm" CANNOT be disabled thru Dodge.
Hopefully someone can figure something out sooner or later to lose the horn.

I hate it when big brother tries to save us from ourselves......what if we put a diode between the backup light and the brake light.....????? !!! When in reverse the backup light would energize the brake lights.....diode would stop the backup from energizing when you hit the brakes.... . ...sounds good anyway...but haven't looked at a wire diagram yet... mabe somone out there with more time could tell me it won't or will work....

Get a seat belt extension from dodge dealer.

They are free. They are legal. They work. Stops the safety crap. Stops the annoying fasten seat belt light and chime. Easier to fasten the belt if you so choose.

anyfx...Your dealer actually give you that for free?? I was at my local dealer yesterday and they told me my truck was NOT one of the vehicles for which they will give away the seatbelt extensions. If you can provide me with some info I can use as ammo I would sure like to load up and head back down there

By they way, why are you belting in your computer?

i don't know why it would be free at one dealership and not another. Try calling Dodge customer service.
