Question Removing the silencer ring!!!

I was wondering if this process is similar to removing one on the 2 gen trucks....Any help or experiences would be appreciated!!! Also does anybody know if there is a warranty issue with doing this????
Thanks

They are easy, you just have to be creative. I used a 1/O Gamagatsu fish hook, nice sharp little point to lift the end then just run the hook around the circle and out she comes.

I tried three different times and still couldn't get to that stupid lock ring. Finally just cut the silencer ring with a pair of tin snips and yanked it out. Guess it won't ever be going back in!

There's one method I've never heard of before!!

Yup, same concept, just a little more difficult to reach.

anyone have photos? I'm assuming this just provides more turbo whine and no performance gain, right?

It works awesome. I learned it a few years ago while trying to get the "earless" snap ring out of the hub on my old F150 (limited tools on the side of the road, but I had my tacklebox). A pair of vice grips on the shank and you have all the leverage you need!

genosgarage.com sells a stainless tube to replace the factory tube if you don't want to cut the baffles out. I cut mine out with a hacksaw and it sounds coool now. Lots of turbo whistle.. Don't know about warranty, it's just there to keep the noise down so I doubt it would cause you any problems... they're never gonna look down that tube anyways.....

Took mine out today and ran it like that for a few hours and to be honest I did not notice any more turbo whine than what I already had. Throttle response was the same no difference either...so I put it back in.
