rear speed sensor

Thanks for looking at my post. So I had my brake light and abs light come on a couple of months ago, and while searching through the threads here, determined that it wasn't something too drastic to worry about, and moreover just a simple sensor. Yesterday in the nice weather i got under my truck changed the gear lube and was going to try and clean the sensor as a cheap first try fix. I got the stud out, but I couldn't pop the sensor out! I was able to turn it, but not pull it out. I exerted about as much pressure as I felt comfortable pulling and prying on the thing. What am I doing wrong?
BTW, I am currently without muffle and tailpipe (waiting on nelson 40") which gave me enough head room to sit cross-legged under the truck to work on this thing too, so I had a good go at it but no luck.

nobody? this has to be something im missing. I would have thought it should just pull directly out. I even tried it at 90* and 180* thinking it may be clocked.

Yep, been there a couple times, you can turn it all you want. Its the o-ring on the sensor that gets lodged on the axle housing. What you can do is start with small flat blade screwdrivers and gently start prying at the base of the sensor and axle housing, when it starts to pop up you might be able to step up to larger scredrivers or small pry-bars. A can of penetrate oil/spray might help break it free too. It will eventually work loose and pop out. might add a bit of grease or anti-seize to the o-ring before installing just in case you have to do it again later on.
