Rear Rotors stuck

Trying to do rear brakes, rotors stuck/seized on hub. Sprayed down with PB Blaster. Backed off star adjuster. Hit many times with 4lb sledge. Emergency brake cable adjustment nut rusted (Michigan salt). Getting torch set. Should I heat up cherry red or take out axle/hub? Thanks!

Had the same problem, but not as much rust in CO.

Put the axle on jack stands, and loosen all the lug nuts. Not a lot, just about 1/8" between the lug nut face and the wheel.

Run the speedometer up to about 40mph or so and slam on the brakes. I had to do that about 5-6 times, but it worked.

DON'T get anything cherry red, it will change the metalurgy of the parts and weaken them!!! Just heat enough to lossen the rust.

If the 2500's are like the 3500's you can cut all day and you'll only make a mess. Mine were bolted on, pics and instructions in this thread.

Thanks for the link! For 2500 no need (yet) to remove axle. Sprayed them down with Kroil and will tap on them. I have gained more respect for the guys who do this for a living!

Thank you for the advise! Time, pen. oils and BFH got the rotors off.
Glad I resisted the torch as that would have added more work in replacing the bearings and seals.
