"rear end whining"

My rear end was whining too the other night about 12 hours after I had dinner at the Thai restaurant!

Whinning

I am new here, so I haven't set up my profile yet.

About the whinning I just bought an 03 2500 with 4.10 gears that made so much noise I couldn't stand driving it. I knew it had a problem but I bought it any way because the price was right. First I tried finding a used axle but the few I did find were way to expensive $ 1800 was the cheapest. Anyway I took it to a shop that specializes in drivelines and had new gears 3.73 and bearings with seals installed for $900. No more noise. The old gears weren't chipped or anything serious, they were just not properly shimmed. I was told that they were still usable, but would be noisy due to uneven wear. I found a good place for gears and bearings online. accuautoparts or something like that.

Mine has always had a slight whine, only when cold, since new. Nothing has changed in the last 50,000 miles. It quiets down after a few miles of driving.

my '03 2500 HO started whinning around 6500 miles. It will do it in R & P float condition only. Had the dealer look at it and was going to fix it but Star says no when they submitted the work order. They said the current fix would come back. The truck has 55000 miles now and the whine is better especially after towing my 11200 lb fiver. Some early '03s had the whole rear housing and all changed . Some had the R & P changed that stopped the whine and some said the whine came back after a while.
