Rear brakes squeak but not all the time?
The rear brakes squeak on my truck. Not all the time though, only under light pressure. I replaced the pads and still have the problem. Any ideas?

With today's lining materials, squeaks can be hard to avoid, but there some steps you can take to diminish them as much as possible.
1) Make sure the slides are clean, lubed and not binding so the pads and calipers are free to move. Remove rust and replace all slide and bushing hardware.
2) Apply a brake lubricant to the back of the brake pads where it contacts the caliper and pistons.
3) Make sure the rotors have been machined so there is no wear ridge where the edge of the lining contacts the rotor.
4) I have found the OEM linings to often be quieter than aftermarket linings, especially higher heat range or "long life" replacements.
