rear axle is bent what now?

I noticed that the rear tires were wearing funny like they where "toed in". the out sides of the tires are worn alot more than the in side. I measured the outside to outside of the tires and the fronts are 3/4" closer than the rear of the tire. the bearings are not worn out the only other thing I can think of is my axle tubes are bent. does anyone have any other ideas what to do next?

IF it is bent, buy the one in the classifieds.

I had a 69 chev that I hit a curb when I was young and stupid. I found a shop that was able to straighten the axle. I know it was in the seventies but thought that some where they still fix axles. Mine had about a inch of toe on one side and they had me pull the diff and axles
and just bring them the housing with the tubes. Took them a day. It was a frame and brake shop in Santa Rosa CA.

Maybe covered under your auto insurance if bent, might be worth a phone call....Road damaged.... Put a complete in and check the axles to make sure they are not damaged. I have changed front axles because they were bent on 4X4's and it was covered under warranty. Insurance did pay for one front axle also.

Just pick up a used one, probably cheaper than your insurance deductable.

Also, how the heck did you bend one of these axles! They are stout looking.

Check your truck junk yards close to you.

I had a 1500 a while back and the rear axle was bent. I did look at the junk yards, but no success. Most of the trucks there had bent axles. I decided to check with my local shops to see if they could straighten the axle. I found one and never had any problems after that. I would see if you could straighten the axle. Thats my two cents.
