O.k. I was trying to check the total hours on my truck and discovered someting different ( atleast to me) When I held down the trip button and did the key on/off 3 times thing at the same time. ALL the lights lit up on the dash, the tach went to 5 grand and the speedo tapped out. Then it had some kind of code/ reading.. ???

Anyone know what the codes are actually reading???

Every single light comes on on the dash when you do this test. The blinker lights, the CEL, the lamp out light. the whole thing. My question is what codes would this read.
In other words why would there be 2 ways to read the same codes.
1- the key on 3 times method
and
2- trip pushed AND key on three times method.

I am thinking that the second method is reading something other than what #1 is reading. Any idea what it is OR why??

 

What you did is test your instrument panel.

 

just a lamp test that's what happened.

 

Thanks, I was getting a tad worried there for a minute.. SO then how do you check the total hours? I thought it was the afore mentioned method..

 

I did the 3 on and off and the first time i got a 24 flash of the engine light then the next time I did a dash check and it said "done" in the odometer, so I did another check of the codes and got an 11 flash



What is the 24 flash and what is th 11 flash??
