Questions from a new owner.

Hey, guys. Just bought my first (and I hope last) diesel. An '07 3500 ST DRW Auto 2X4 (4X6 to some older guys) with the 5.9. This is gonna be my work truck. By that I mean my daily driver commuter. I won't be towing a 40' travel trailer. I don't need a 1 Ton that will cruise at 120 or turn 12 second quarters. I just need a reliable, long lasting, fuel efficient truck. I would appreciate any tips on break-in, gauges, chips, and anything else you can think of that will help achieve that goal. No BS please. Thanks in advance.

OOPS! I meant no disrespect with "no BS" comment. My automotive toy is a beloved '93 Thunderbird Super Coupe. You know the mantra. If it ain't blown . . . . it sucks. And some of the guys on the T-Bird enthusiast sites seem to be a mite too "enthusiastic" if you know what I mean. What I failed to make clear is I don't have a lot of disposable income for performance mods that ultimately won't help my situation. On the other hand I know that there are improvements that can be made that will help overall mileage and keep the truck healthy longer. I'd like to know what to do -in what order. I really would appreciate some comments. Then I promise to be a good boy and keep my mouth shut. Thanks. lngrng

welcome to the site. leave it stock if that's what you are after. then you wont have to put up with any BS from the dealer, since you dont want BS from us.

Personally I wouold advise getting at least EGT boost and tranny temp gauges.
Iv got Isspro in mine and they match the factory dash great.
Other than that, I would say drive it and enjoy it.

Leave it stock.** Use only factory/Fleetguard filters.
**Air filter could be stock fitting aftermarket. I'll let you decide on type because no matter what you install there will be one better.

Enjoy the ride.

I would second running a set of gauges for EGT, trans and possibly boost. Just performance indicators to make sure everything is going all right, or to narrow down something that may be wrong. Other than that, keep is stock...
