Problem with power steer

Problem with power steer

OK, got a problem with the power steer or lack of.
The brakes seem Ok maybe a little hard but work good.
Truck is stock with stock tires, if the brakes are good could it be the pump?
Or do you think I got a problem with the box.
I know the power steer is not the best on these trucks but this feels like it has went away over the last 6 months.
Anyone have a clue what I could look at or check to see what needs fixed.

Had the same thing going on with mine last year. I drained all the ps fluid and replaced it with Valvoline Synthetic. Made all the difference in the world. Feels like it did when it was new again.

So that was just there trans fluid like the book calls for just Valvoline Synthetic?

Whats the best way to drain and refill. Do you disconect the cooler line and drain and refill or is there a way to flush it.

If your sitting still can you move the wheel back and forth? Pump could be getting weak but the gear boxes seen to be more problematic fore sure. Breaks just seem to need good amount of pedal pressure on these trucks.

I just put a new gear box in and flushed the system. Takes ATF+4 and to flush it i pulled return line off cooler and put a spare hose on cooler that ran down to my bucket. Need to plug that return line or else reservoir will drain out, i just put a socket extension in there and used the clamp to hold it. You need someone to start the truck while you add fluid to the reservoir to maintain the level as it flushes it out into your bucket. Make sure your helper kills the engine before you run out of fluid. I ran two quarts through mine.
