I had mine reprogramed the same day. Maybe the vibration moved a few graduations on the gauges, but it is still "around" the same area, and I have the 4.10

Haven't had my reprogrammed yet dealer wanted 80 bucks, I'll live with it! I'm really starting to wonder about this exhaust harmonic thing.

Hoot, Where did you get your Rip Rooks exhaust?

Took off the tranny exhaust hanger today. Took care of about 50% of the vibration. Better, but still there.

I noticed only MINOR vibrations at 68-71 for the first 1000 miles. At which point I installed my 5er hitch. I now have it from 66-75, and it seems to get worse the faster I go.
My question is how many of you guys have 5th wheel hitches? I dont know if this is the problem, or if I finally got enough miles on it for it to finally start to rumble, as some of you have mentioned.

I don't have it in yet, but I have a Pullrite 16k Superglide being installed on Friday (would have it in now, but it was missing parts in the Dodge kit). I have the vibe but not horribly. Hopefully this won't make it worse.

What kind of hitch do you have?

On my trip to Muncie this weekend I found I still had the vibe but it is at the 75-80 mph range now and much milder.

It looks like since I put the larger tires on and had it reprogrammed for the tires it moved up about 10 mph. Funny thing is when I originally put the larger tires on the vibe was still at 65-70 until I had it reprogrammed to 601 revs per mile.

I think the exhaust is a contributor though as its a tuned pipe that can and will harmonize with other vibes. Changing shapes and mountings can change the way another vibe gets pronounced.

So it looks like exhaust isn't the final solution at least with my truck but it's now at 75-80mph which I don't typically drive at and its not as harsh.

shakycummins,

Whats a muffler?

Mine was fixed on my dually by having the power steering lines replaced with the DC weighted thingy which ties everything (lines) together and weights one. PTL.

I just picked mine up from the dealer with 5 miles on it. Had the vibration on the drive home, around 66-75 mph.

Called the dealer and he says they are working on the fix. He wants me to bring it in to verify its the same vib problem.

I would have liked to know this before I bought the truck

I still love it around town, great power, ride, and its nimble as all get out.

Cheers,
RH

That's EXACTLY where mine happens. Is yours LB or SB and what rear end gearing do you have?

Let us know if your dealer says it's something else. It sure sounds like it's the now infamous "vibe" problem. A lot of dealers report that DC " . . . knows about it and is working on it." I just wonder if either of those statements is true or are they just blowing us off? I'm about to go on my first road trip (400mi round trip) and I know I'm going to be so annoyed at this when I get back that I'll start raising he!! with my dealer.

I am just curious about this vibe. I am about to either put a CUMMINS RECON engine in my 2000, or spend that money on a new truck. I am concerned about this VIBE. Are there owners out there who are not experiencing this problem, or is it on all of the 600''s? This vibe issue is steering me away from a new one right now.

Check out the poll thread to see what particular configurations are most afflicted with the vibe. I believe it's mostly the short box 4x4s with autos, but others are reporting it as well. Oddly enough, mine seems to have diminished after taking the truck out on a 400mi road trip. I can't explain why - could be the extra weight from the 5er hitch that was recently added, but I doubt that. Several posters have been told by their dealers that DC is aware of the problem and working on it - whatever that means. Others claim to have solved the problem various ways: drive shafts, transfer cases, exhaust systems, etc. There doesn't seem to be a magic bullet. I was aware of this problem before taking delivery of my truck. I had faith the DC would fix it.

Compared to the problems I read about on the Ford and GM forums, this is peanuts.

This is where our 7/70k warranty will hopefully pay off.
