Pinion Factor on 06 Megacab Cummins

Hey guys, I haven't been on here in while. I've got a question for ya. For the past couple of months when I barely give my truck any gas like pulling into my development or driving through a parking lot say 5 to 10mph my truck has a very minor serge or a jumping feeling to it. It does it more when it cold. If you accererate like normal you never feel it. I do have 295 Nitto tires on it. I asked the dealership about it and they are telling me that the pinion factor needs to be reset??? Is this for real? When I had the tires put on I had my speed od. reset for the correct tires size. My truck has 25K on it.

Any thought's? Thanks

What you are feeling is the trans hunting 1-2 shift light throttle. There is an updated sensor for some models that may fix that issue

The dealer is wanting to charge me $87.00 to update this pinion factor?? Should the dealer know about this updated sensor?

Thanks for the reply.

Where can I find TSB on this? I think that's what you call it.

Thanks

I believe pinion factor is what is set to calibrate speedo/odo for tire size.

Don't pay $87 to update the pinion factor. Just leave it alone.

Bob, how can one tell if this sensor update applies to their truck?
