Paint on the intercooler (aftercooler)

The paint on my intercooler is flaking off. Any thoughts on repairing it? Special paint for what appears to be galvanized? Anyone else experience this?

I sprayed my engine compartment down with castrol super clean then waited half an hour and hosed it off and ALL the black paint on the intercooler came off------looks better shiny anyway!

I would think that it would disipate heat better without the paint anyways. It's less "insulation" for the intercooler/aftercooler.

Having a turbo charged car with dataloging, I was able to check an unpainted aluminum intercooler against the same intercooler painted with high temp BBQ black paint. It was cooler after painting. Only 1-2 degrees, but definately cooler with black paint on it.
