P0341 Cam Position sensor code

After filling up this morning I noticed a violent shudder of the engine when I was on the freeway, the CEL came on. First time in 10 years of owning this truck for the light to come on. Checked the codes and it turned out the be P0341 which is the camshaft position sensor. Engine continued to shudder intermittently throughout my 40 mile drive back to the house. Used my googlefu and everyone suggested to check the wiring going to the sensor for chafing or a possible shirt. These are the CPS wires just behind the AC condenser directly under the oil filter. I'm hoping this cleaning this mess up will fix the problem. Will keep yall updated. Anyone else have this issue?

I would say that's your problem, I have run across that problem a few times. Make sure you use rosen core soldier and heat shrink tubing, also make sure everything is kept away from the oil filter. Most likely oil filter wrench caused the wire damage problem to begin with. Don't use FRAM filters anymore either, not very good quality for a diesel engine. This type of oil filter wrench will cause a lot of damage if it happens to catch the wires when removing the filter.

I usually use the mopar filter but the guy that rebuilt my motor used the fram on the first oil change. so far so good after i fixed the wiring. Check engine light is still on though.

Swap sensors with the crank sensor if code switches to crank then replace the sensor. Hopefully just a sensor, did tech replace camshaft when he rebuilt engine? Clear the code first and see if it returns.

This problem has been around for a while but your wiring does look a mess. Clear the codes before proceeding. You can do like BigIron suggested and swap the sensors but you can get a new one for about $60. IIRC the crank sensor isn't too bad to change but the cam sensor sucks.
