Oils & Questions

OK, So after running the factory oil for 7500, I filled with Valvoline Premium Blue and a Stratapore oil filter. I went with Vavloline, mostly because I got a deal on at a local autoparts store for ~$8/Gal.

Hot oil pressure at idle ranges from 16-20psi. Water temp is anywhere between 190-200. IIRC Fatory fill oil pressure never went below 20PSI. I'm not sure if this was due to the Stratapore filter or Valvoline.

Now, I am coming up to the 15k interval and thniking of Checvron Delo 400 15W40...mostly because Costco has a decent price ~$50/6gal.

Questions:
1) I was raised to beleive that you should stick with a given brand of oil. I think this goes back to the days of detergent & non-detergent oil being available. Is this still accurate?

2) Has anyone had any issues with Chevron Delo?

3) Has anyone seen oil pressure changes when oil changed?

TIA

Tony

1. No. You can change back and forth as often as you like. Doesn't matter if you switch to synthetic then back to dino. Doesn't matter if you switch from one weight to another weight conventional oil or synthetic.

2. Delo oils are excellent oils. I'am not say that because I use delo. I use Mobil.

3. I haven't and you shouldn't. I know some will say yes but alot depends on outside factors such as oil weight you switched to. If your using X weight then there should be no difference in oil pressure no matter what brand your using as long as the weight is the same. The only time one would see a differnece would probalbly be if you let your oil change go too long and soot builds up there by increasing viscocity and the pressure goes up. Then when you change it out the fresh oil has less viscocity so it would register slightly less PSI. I think things would be so minimual that any of it would be hard to detect.

PS your truck came filled from the factory with Valvoline 15-40
