Question Oil Pressure Seams LOW

What oil pressure are you guys seeing?? Started mine this morning after around 15F degrees all night and it was just above 40psi. It hoovers around 40 psi when running down the highway which seems alright. But after the engine warms up to 220F and the truckis idling the oil pressure is around the low mark. It never goes below the red line just a little above it. The truck only has 800 miles on it.

On my old Durasmack it would run 80+psi on cold morning start up even with Amsoil in it and 40,000 mile then would hoover around 40 psi any other time.

Pressure just seems low on the cummins at cold start???

Thanks

Normal. Mine is the same way. Keep driving it; this isn't a Duramax....

Rumor also has it that the oil pressure guage is nothing more than an idiot guage driven by the ECM and not really from the sender - but I can't verify it.

o4ram2500,

All of us that got out from under a Duramax noticed that oil pressure thing right away. Join the crowd.

As mymaur said......"NORMAL".

Enjoy your Cummins.

I wouldn't worry to much about what your factory gauge has, it isn't really doing anything except sitting there looking pretty. Al Dodges are set-up to be dummy gauges, they read nothing and report nothing.
