Oil EVERWHERE under the truck....blowby?
My old one was made in Mexico, as is my whole truck now.
The 53 block was cast in Brasil, and the Mexican Block was supposed to be the beefiest bigboy they made.
Not sure where the Mexico comment really plays here.
To the OP: I wouldn't condemn too fast, until all options are checked. He may get some satisfaction through Cummins, if Dodge doesn't help. Not sure if Fiat really cares about trucks before 2009, though.

You sir are a ***!
HIS truck has a AFE intake, Edge Juice and a Magnaflow exhaust and he won't turn the Edge up over level 3.
No one is asking for warranty. He drives the truck like a baby. I on the other hand whoop my truck daily and have 118k miles. As for bashing.....far from it. If a medium duty diesel is needing a rebuild after 87k miles.....he could have bought a gasser and saved the cash.
He's called the Cummins dealer in Ventura. They told him they didn't have the tools to do the test and to call the Dodge dealer. The dodge dealer told him they have never heard of this happening. Total morons.
Its going to a private dealer shop to check the blowby pressures. If its cooked......its cooked. I have the suspicion that it could also be the rear main.
After driving the Ford, the engine was powerful. The truck drove and steared like crap. He didn't like the truck.

Really sorry to hear about all the problems. Hopefully you can get it figured out and get back to enjoying the truck.
I can say I've had my fair share of issues with my 04.5...tranny at 78k, turbo & injectors at 101k, the fan clutch water pump at 170k and i'm on life support with the front end(ball joints, unit bearings, tierod ends, etc) at 170k. I love the truck and the power but it requires some work to keep her going.
I will say I did the same thing and tried out one of the new Ford's. My impression was the same as yours nice power from the engine but steering stunk and didnt really like the ride. A friend of mine just got a new GMC 3500 dually and I got to try that out....its got me thinking about trading in the 04.5...really liked everything about it.
Good luck with your truck.

well found where oil leak is coming from the real main seal called dodge explained my problem warranty expired three weeks ago and only 87000 miles they gave me a reference number and said dealer has to check truck and they may give some help if not $700 to repair have a 15% discount coupon, took edge box off for smog had a hard start and no power the map sensor no good replace that all is good, been a great truck for the last five years
This is great news for you and anyone else who owns a Cummins! I researched trucks for over two years when moving up to diesel power. After buying Ford gassers for over 25 years it was a hard decision to jump ship and go with Dodge. I could not find a decent 7.3 Ford and the 6.0 had too bad of a reputation for me to stick with Ford. As it all turned out I found my 05 Cummins with 23K miles and it was exactly I was looking for, it has been a great truck for 3 years now. Massive engine failures are rare indeed and it is good to hear this is only a seal. Good luck with the repair and I would think little c has at least several hundred thousand miles left in her!!

If you want to push it, you will find your Warranty book CLEARLY states the Cummins 5/100 Warranty starts AFTER the Dodge 3/36.
You might have to lawyer up, but more than one guy has gotten warranty work done.
As for all of you who say no, save your breath......
They have a 05... So the 5 years is up

Depends on the date it was put in service.
Check the crank for back and forth play, there should only be a very slight amount of lateral movement.
If the rear main is smoked look for a groove on the crank, they make a sleeve kit that comes with an installer. You can get all the parts you need through Cummins at less cost than the dealer. All you need is the engine number.
Let us know what you find.
you might want to check your warranty book mine is an 05 and the warranty is different on the 05's. We have a 7yr/100k warranty and there is no $100 deductible for the first 5 yrs. After 5 years there is a $100 deductible, so you may be able to get it done for $100 bucks if your under 100k miles!
Dodge called today. Said the truck is covered under the warranty 100% with the 100 buck deductible. Said the engine itself is covered 7 years or 100000 miles.
Combination of the 7 years of the dodge powertrain and the 100000 cummins warranty.

I forgot they changed the engine warranty
