Oh gurus of the 3rd Gens

Gentlmen (and Ladies)

Had a call from my bro on his 04 2500. Stopped just quit on him on the Hwy on his way home from work.... code p0268? Any Ideas... Bone stock with less than 60k

Any help or ideas a much appreciated.

Just a little more info... he stated that if he lets it sit and cool off it will start and run for a little while....has an apptment at the dealer on Monday to get it looked at.

Ahhh.....the dreaded stock lift pump. A common failure on our 3rd gens. I suggest he upgrade it to a Walbro or FASS set up. But it should be covered by warranty if he insists on the dealer repairing it. They will install the "in tank" version as a replacement.

Concur with above. That's why a FP guage should be mando equipment. Hope his IP is not toast...

Same thing happened to me. The lift pump is gone. Won't really effect an 04 IP. At least that is good news.

Not always true. FP guage can give you a warning.

No, not true. Hard starting, low FP are all signs.

Mine did too, but I know of cases where a FP guage has given a warning.

It's definately the lift pump. Best thing to do is get a Walbro kit. 391 for stock or lightly bombed, 392 if you are planning on sled pulling or drag racing. This is the right fix.

Mine hiccupped once on the freeway and died like someone turned off a light switch about 5 miles later. No hard starts, no low fuel pressure.

Thank you for the replys... he has Finally joined here, (MrHyde) After much poking and prodding...

I just wanted to give him some sort of resource that can help him along. After all he helped me find my 98 for $4000.

Maybe he will join in the search for more power... HE HE EH
