off road diesel
Yeah I wouldn't worry about the warranty as much as the DOT or other law enforcement busting you. Not likely that they would check but if they are in a bad mood they can....and will check. And I wasn't sure on the price but I know that it is not cheap.
Depends on where you live as to whether or not you need to worry about fines. Some states have no fine at all, while others are a lot. It seems like the more left leaning your state is politically the higher the fine. The more rural states tend not to get as freaky about it as your "sealed over with asphalt states" or states with really large population centers.
Check your local laws to see.

I wouldn't see why, around here (ohio) the fuel is the same now. It's just dyed red for tax reasons. I can't see why that would have anything to do with the truck warranty. However if it was me I probably wouldn't take it to the dealer with red fuel, they don't seem to need much of a reason to take the easy (voided) way out.

DC may give you some grief but they dont stand a chance on voiding your warranty. Off road is no differant that on road just has a red dye.
And as far as the IRS goes, they could give a crap less out red fuel. It's the DOT you have to watch out for.

Actually it does go back to the IRS since it's tax evasion. And I'm not sure on the rules for every state but I've heard they can also look at how many miles are on your truck and compare that to how many were on the title and back charge you for every mile you drove it. So good luck, hope your getting it cheap enough to justify it. (to those who are using it)
well I'm not trying to pick a fight here but I will defend him a little..... We have a farm truck that never even sees blacktop just field roads and we run red in it. On occasions we have put some in, in a pinch when we are running low and need to still get around for a while before going into town to get green. Another circumstance is Alot of these trucks are used in the oil fields and never even get liscenced for the road and they never have problems getting warranty work done when something goes down.... Just a few things to keep you guys calm before you jump him for asking!!
Unless DC thinks that every last one of their trucks is used for road travel then I don't see why or how they could? I worked on a wholesale nusery, they had 10 or 15 trucks that NEVER left the farm (3500 acres). I wouldn't think that a warranty should be voided for that?
As far as I have ever heard it's the same fuel.

The red dye does not any additional sulpher content to the fuel. It only adds color.
I remember picking up about 600,000 gallons of diesel fuel marine from Malaysia and it was really high in sulpher and was certainly not red. A diesel inspector found what was suspected to be rust inside one of my emergency diesels and almost failed me during a surprise diesel inspection until we tested the fuel and found that it wasn't rust but sulpher residue. I passed that diesel inspection with flying colors, and was the first ship in many moons that didn't have an engine red tagged afterwards.
