Np273d

I’m replacing my transfer case. I have a 2005 3500 with a NP273D I have a transfer case from a 2008 2500 also a NP273D . However I’m looking at the transfer case in the 2005 truck and the electric shift motors have different wiring and also look a little different. My question is am I able to take my shift motor off the bad 2005 transfer case and bolt it up to the 2008 transfer case. Thanks in advance

Since I have posted this I found answers I will share.
2003 to 2005 273D is different then 06 and up they do not interchange. The electric shift control is different. The wiring is different and the drive is different..one is a star drive on the 08 the 05 has a oval with flat sides.
I also have been figuring out that the input shaft has different exposures which would be a problem if you don’t know. The tag is the answer… you need to have a transfer case with the same assembly numbers.
So when you read somewhere that 273d’s are the same from 03 to 12 They are NOT. I’m sure a lot of the internals are the same and they may look the same on the outside.. but there are a lot of differences that cannot be overcome. So be sure of what you have and what you are replacing it with. Again the tag on the transfer case is the answer
