A Note About 05's

Although 05 2500's are being shown as being 86XX GVW and having 10.5"'s, I have a rental 05 now with 9000 GVW and an 11.5". It's a 4X4. Other noticable differences include new fancy badges on tailgate and steering wheel and also that the pedal no longer has a hinge on it. The SLT alloy wheels are polished. The coolant resevoir has been relocated to the rear passenger side of the engine bay. There is a sticker that says grease front driveshaft at each oil change but I can't find a grease zirk. It's an 05, auto, quad cab, short bed, 600, SLT, 4x4.

Hate to ask you this but is there now a skid plate under the fuel tank?

The coolant resivor was already moved to the passenger side firewall for the 325\600's. It was necessary for the change in the fan shroud.

I heard rumors that power would be increased again for 2005 models. I guess that's not the case since the '05's are out and there has been no announcement.

Vitorrio, I saw a bunch of '05 sitting on the lots today. I didn't notice a skid plate on the fuel tank, but I did notice that Dodge finally put a skid plate over the transfer case.

Probably 05.5 or 06. I have heard rumors of the new HP and TQ numbers, and all I have to say is that Chebbie and Furd better be ready.

Actually I believe they are getting rid of 5.9 CUMMINS. They are suppose to be going even BIGGER somwhere around 6.1 or even larger. Maytbe they will have to put a real tranny such as a big Alison in it. Like the ones they use in the RV's

I spoke to a man who is a supervisor at D-Max. He said that they are working on a new and improved engine that would exceed the cummins in HP and Torque and that they were also focusing on economy. He did not know when they were going to release it.

Well I am no expert but if you take a look at the last couple of years you will see that the real changes are being made mid year. Ford is advertising the most powerful line of trucks but is behind Dodge, I think we will see some changes on both the Dodge and the Ford before year end. Chevy has allready showed their hand, kinda reminds me of a couple years ago when Dodge was bragging about the powerful line of trucks (305/555 and Ford waited untill the ads ran for a while and came out with the 325/560 motor-you can't tell me this all happened by accident-made Dodge look like a bunch of liars--I think turnaround is fair play!!

Got my 05 last Thurs. and inside the glove box the build sheet states it has a 11.5" rear end and it does not have a skid plate on the tank (2x4) & the door sticker gives a 9000# gvw. Sure is a neat truck. I have some pics but don't know how to post them, any help? Jeff

I heard Dodge was going to a Mercedes diesel in the next few years, and that Ford would have optional Powerstroke or Cummins.

Another note about 05's (I guess 04's too) that I did not realize... the TOW/HAUL switch is NOT just an OD lockout anymore. In fact, there is no way to simply lockout OD on these trucks (?????????)
