Is this normal drivetrain wear for a truck with 19k mi?

I don't really have any experience in the driveline department so could someone help me with this? [redface]

Earlier I was trying the hose clamp on the rear driveshaft to try to track down a 70mph+ vibration (clamp didn't change anything btw) and noticed some things.

1. Is the rubber seal failing a sign that something else is going on here and how easy and cheap to replace or just take it to the dealer?
2. Is it normal for the u-joints to leak this much grease? I've shaken everything and can't find any play anywhere.

Any help is appreciated.

Looks right for a truck with about 60-70K on it, not 19K. Check all the rubber mounts, must be a lot of something vibrating, or flexing to tear that seal apart. Could be a leaking seal on the U-Joint, or the joint itself is worn out, therefore causing the grease to fling out because the needles aren't centered anymore.

Quality Dodge parts.

I see your in hampton, pull the shaft and take it to craft machine shop, off of aberdene rd. let them check and repair with a good quality greasable joint and center bearing.
the dealer will fix it but you'll end up with the same crappy non greasable joints.

anybody know how much the dust boot costs? been looking at the service manual looks real easy to replace. if its cheap I'll just replace it myself.

I've decided to pull the front driveshaft next for troubleshooting purposes.

Rick, I'm actually in NN, thanks for letting me know of a good shop here. what kind of $$$ you think I'd be looking at for the work?

my 06 has 11k miles and that same boot is cracked in the same way. its not a seal , just a dust boot

thanks I get it now since I looked at the service manual[duhhh]

so the shaft coming from the rear of the transfer case gets no lube?

I took in my own parts 3 u joints presision 351's, and a napa carrier bearing
the labor to rebuild was 130.00

They will supply parts also for a decent price.
