No High Presure Fuel?
No High Presure Fuel?
Its been a long time since I posted anything if I mess up in any way I apologize now! Like my sig says I have a 2003 5.9 6speed currently with 92,000 miles on it and a new cp3 at 60,000 at which time I put a holley blue pump on frame after Chrysler wouldn't do the lift pump upgrage but did a new cp3 and for 4 years and 32,000 miles no problems, 3 weeks ago I was on a trip to KY and there the holley started acting up so I replace it in 5 minutes with new one I carry with me, problem solved! Drove home 350 miles no problems. When I got home I ordered Bully Dog GT Tunner installed it 2 weeks ago went well pulled it out of the garage never drove it! Last thursday went to move it to load for a trip this past weekend and it would not start! Called Bully Dog Gary there walked me through checks did a uninstall and still nothing! I loosened the High Presure Line and cranked it over expecting fuel to spray everywhere nothing I read here that if you unplug the 2 wire connector it will go to Max fuel I did and still nothing exactly how much fuel should you get out is there a volume test for that or is it a small amount just high presure? I know I have good fuel delivery to pump so without telling me how messed up I am can you help me diagnose my problem! Thanks in advance for all help!
I dont know that I would use the word fry but they can throw some bugs in them. I would start with the basics first. Check the low pressure side. Make sure your lift pump is getting fuel to the cp-3. The 2 wire connector you removed is for the fca. When disconnected it makes the rail pressure go to max( 23-24kpsi), not max throttle. Only time I have ever needed to disconnect that is to check for a leaking relief valve. Be very careful cracking the high pressure line. Fuel spraying from there at elevated pressures can be harmful to your body!
Lastly check all your fuses and let us know where you stand at that point.

Well update
Monday when I got home from my trip (borrowed buddies truck) I cranked it a bit and decided to through a charger on it. Its an 03 with original batteries and let it charge I worked 16 hours Tues. called the son and had him pull charger off. Wed. after work went to local dealer and talked to diesel mechanic he said I should hook up drb2 and watch target and actual fuel presure so I did and when I was cranking it over it started !!!!!!!!!! I was amazed ! And now confused more than before what causes this to happen?

Saturday Morning
Got in truck waited for lights cranked but no fire, check with DRBII and was only 200 psi on fuel rail. Any thoughts on what makes it come and go one day to the next!

What condition are your batteries in? These electronic engines are tempramental to low voltage. With the current draw of the starter, might not be leaving enough for the ecm, etc.. to work off of. Did you put the charger back on it and see if it would crank?

I knew the batteries were orig. and I planned on replacing them this year! And with it cranking over I didn't think that the batteries would cause this trouble, but last night after my 4th double I put the new batteries in and it fired right up!!!! I know theres alot of draw on them and I haven't treated them good over the years but never thought it would cause this trouble!
thanks for the input another reason I like this site so well
