Need help?
Was on my way to the Oregon coast pulling my 38 foot fifth wheel and going up some pretty steep grades when I went to downshift and there was nothing. The clutch pedal felt hard and I could not shift. I finally got it back into 5th and keep going at a lower speed. When I came to a stop light in a small town again nothing. I kept pushing the clutch pedal and finally got my pedal to work right. I am thinking that it got so hot that maybe it vapor locked. Has anyone had this problem and how did you fix it. Thanks
Just an update.
Ended up getting a Southbend clutch installed. The stock pressure plate and flywheel were blue as heck but the disc looked fine. No glazing and plenty of material left. The rear main seal was also starting to seep so I had that replaced. Upon getting more information from different sources the stock hydrualic and clutch system are a very weak spot on these trucks. The Southbend is not as quiet as the stock dual mass and has some slight launch shutter issues but that will take some getting use to. The pedal feel is also different.
