You know I have had the same problem also. I aired down the tires to 30 psi and it helped a lot!! Just make sure you air them up before you do any interstate driving. Or you will be getting some really bad vibrations.

 

Only happened to me a couple times, but I DO plan on building myself some ladder bars once I install the lift...

Well this is my 4th dodge truck 1st cummins, and i expected alot more out of it today, i dont know if it was the extra wheels in the back or the weight of the truck, but it was slow! and a couple of times i thought i was going to get stuck on unplowed roads, maybe because it was icy sluch, but none of my others ever gave me that feeling

 

We have a few guys on this site who will tell you, you don't know how to drive. LOL

About 800 pounds, Rancho 9000 adjusted to setting 9. Low tire pressure, will help SOME.

Test drove limited slip, non limited slip, 2 & 4 wheel drive, in exact same conditions, not much difference.

Its pitful, hate to even travel in a group with other 4 bys. Down right embarrassing.

 

sounds like what is happening is when you tires are slipping on the snow and then hitting the pavement after moving the snow it is causing the axel to wrap it moves forward and slips on the snow again. like it was stated before this can cause u-joints to fail and also snap pinon gears and rings. traction bars are about the only thing that will help with this problem or nice clean pavement.

Can you please also PM me info on traction bars? Definitely need to do something. Even with with me Hemi and 1/2 as much torque as the Cummins, it's unbearable. Hops like crazy whether empty or towing a snowmobile trailer. I thought the extra weight would calm it down.....NOPE. I've had the truck for 4 years and have NEVER seen anyone complain about 4WD wheel hop until now. I was beginning to think my truck was abnormally bad, but sounds like it's right along with everyone else's.

 

Dodge is bad for this my 97 2500 ctd was the same, but now that I recall upsizing my tires to 305/75/16 really helped. I haven't put my 07 to the test yet but I'm sure i'll have the same results as you guys.

it dont matter if i know how to drive or not. any body in the dayton area that thinks i dont know how to drive, i challenge you to drive MY truck up MY drive way and NOT get wheel hop. it cant be done.


me thinks latter bars are the way to go. just think i need to save my money. dont know about these in that link, but i may go with them. just dont know about driloling in my spring holders things

 

I also see a definate need for something. Ladder bars or traction bars. I would be worried about breaking those tuff country ones, and I think ladder bars may do a better job. I did some searching, but most ladder bars are for a lifted truck. What has anyone else found?

 

Mine also has the wheel hop in the snow. My Mom is here visiting and we went out for a ride, when my truck was wheel hoping she just looked at me like what the heck is that? Is there something wrong with this truck, again? I told her no, I figured it was due to me having a short bed, but from reading everyone's post it seems even long beds have the same problem. I'm very discouraged that I spend a good chunk of money on a vehicle that the only thing that has got me is the cummins, the rest is just agravating.

 

Has anyone heard of or used these dual purpose leaf springs from Lorenz Industries? If I understand this correctly it will replace the block and the leafs but maintain the same height and still have overloads, right? Does anyone know of some other companies that offer the same type of product for cheaper? Also, you should be able to reduce axle wrap by eliminating the blocks, right?

You can make axle wrap less by taking out the blocks but these 3rd gens don't have very tall blocks. I think the only true way to alleviate it is to use ladder bars.

 

hey guys I got busy timmer posted the link to what I sent a few guys. I found them in their catalog and they were reasonably priced but havent installed mine yet. I like these because they are kind of hidden but they may not perform as well as those 900 dollar ones, but I cant afford those.
