i just got an 06 crew cab dually 4x4 with a 6 speed a week ago. ive towed all but one day with it. the first day i got 12.6 hand caculated after that the overhead has read any where from 7.4 - 12.6 and it now has 1600 miles or so on it. i drive to much to do 55 i usually run 75 without a trailer and 60 with a trailer. ive had 22K lbs behind me so far. i dont expect to see great mileage with the way i drive but 22 is a long ways off. i hope that is what ur getting because that gives the rest of us hope that there is good mileage somewhere in these 610's

I wouldn't count on it. I'm getting 14-15 mpg when empty with my '06. I can get into the 15's on the freeway if I really feather it. That is with both the overhead, and hand calc, both always within .2 mpg of each other. Truck is still new and hoping it'll get better. But this is about what I've seen most other people reporting with the '06's.

On a scale 1-10 i'd give it a 15 Gotta make this quick just wanted to let everyone know that i love my new truck. And to think ppl want to buy a Dura-crap or a powerjoke.

Dude your not getting 22.5 mpg, unless you go 45 on the freeway, and to think ppl would want to buy a durmax or powerstroke, those are both sweet trucks, there is not much difference between the 3, if your have a diesel truck then your truck is cool in my opinion... incase you have not test driven a new chevy it has a really nice tranny... and the fords run forever, i had a f250 powerstroke for 130k miles no problems ever, all i did was change fluids...

Wink

My 06 4 x 4, MC, has 7000 miles and I am just now getting 14-15 mpg range. Empty not hauling anything under 2 K rpm. This has increased from 12 to 15 ish most with cumulative mileage in excess of 15 k are getting 18 19 best.

Something not right if you are getting 22

Not to be any ruder than you just were to him but YEAH right. 130k is hardly forever, in my experience, my stepfather having had three ford diesels before his current gasser chevy, they are worthless peices of crap. You were lucky to get 130k trouble free miles out of it. The Duramax has had its share of tranny problems too as I recall. No doubt it is nice when the package is working as a whole but for 5-10k less dollars I think I will stick with the Dodge. They are all three very nice trucks as far as creature comforts go but the huge price difference and lack of reliability should force any sane person towards the Dodge..How many of the new Fords and Chevys have you seen that have a half a million miles on them like that one that was the subject of the thread on Ebay? Sorry if I was rude but please have a little more respect for other people and you wil earn more yourself.

There is a lot of milage variation in these vehicles(600 series). I have seen 20 a couple of times with mine.(04.5) I not ready to call anybody out who gets 22 I am happy for him. You got a good one. Enjoy it.

Those 6.0s aren't all that wonderful. And I don't really care for any truck that the repair manual starts off with step one, remove cab.
As for the Allison, most transmissions would last longer if they derated the engine anytime any amount of power was applied to it. I know guys around here really hated the Allison for plowing, they wanted to be able to back up at more then 5 miles per hour. That was the first year for them, they could have changed the gear ratio since.

mule

thanks for sticking up for me. My neighbor has a 04.5 and gets around the same as I do. He's the one that got me hooked on a dodge cuz of the good milage. He gets around 19-22 on the highway as well.

my 06 jumped 2 mpg after i installed the edge juice w/ attitude. It jumped me to 15-16 on the freeway, cruise set at 73 mph. I called dodge to see why such poor mpg. They said they had prior complaints and to fix this i would need to bring the truck into a dealer to have the comp.re-programmed. I'll suffer with the low mpg, what they do is take fuel away, less fuel = less POWER. no thanks

And how did you get so lucky to have the juice with attitude for an 06?

Tyler_02,

Congrats on the new truck! I got my 04 a month ago today and I've been all smiles since. BTW, I get 20 on mine too, highway driving @ 75mph! In the city i've got abit of a lead foot and it goes down to about 16ish. And yes that is hand calculated for all you skeptical people. Its real simple, as tyler said before, miles divided by gallons lol. Just gotta keep track how much you put in. Anyways, I'm going on a 1000 mi road trip tomorrow, I'll check mine out once again to see how it does on the long trip.

Cheers

My 2003 2 x 4 QC 3500 6-speed hand shaker got 22 the majority of the time, when I traded it in for the 2006 it had 130k problem free miles.

Maybe I'm going to get 22 with my MC 2500 4 x4 ?
