So im on EMPTY about about 20 Miles to Empty and I stopped at a store and obviously turned my truck off. Finish at the store and turn my truck on and fuel guage went from EMPTY to 1/2 a tank and MTW said 244. I was really freaked out, I know I was EMPTY so I went to the gas station and all of a sudden the guage started dropping back to EPMTY and MTE went back to 20 miles. Anyone experince this?

 

Were you parked on a hill of ANY kind? Any little hill will make your gauge and DTE read different. For mine I can park in front of my house with a 1/2 tank and in the morning come out to 1/4 tank. As soon as I start to drive on level ground it will go back to 1/2 tank. If you park on a hill and look at your DTE it will either go up or down depending on which way on the hill you are and watch the fuel gauge do the same....

Mine did the same thing. I parked it with less than 1/8 and came out in the morning and had almost 1/2. Started driving and it settled back down.

I thought someone put something in my tank. It has only happened once though.

 

Never had that happen but one time I burned 3/4 of a tank and the lie-o-meter was reading 23.5 mpg so I shut the truck off when I got home one day then the next time I get in and start it's saying 15.1 ?? I just figured it was trying to come clean and be honest for once
