my truck had recently did the "rough idle" cold start stuff the last couple of times it was started, then running about 75 down the interstate (15 minutes after starting it up) it died...would only idle for a few seconds. Each restart ended up progressively running shorter time until it would not start at all. Dealer installed new lift pump. Supposedly a new / different one. Dealer told me that most of the ones out there on my model will probably die and that DC was shipping this newer one out to solve the problem (said something about recurring prob's with these lift pumps) I am running a 04.5 600 w/ 7K miles. I unplugged and hid my Edge EZ so as not to give the dealer any excuse not to fix my truck while I waited for the tow truck. Am sure this did not cause any issues anyway as the truck ran a few seconds at a time after I unplugged my box. Any body else with this problem or hear anything about this stuff? Hoping the dealer is shooting me straight.

Someone posted, I'm not sure of the member's name, that DC will soon be releasing a fix for the lift pump problem. Maybe someone can report details of the fix.

Well, that's encouraging.

Tomey, has your service department seen many failures?

I would like to see a newer designed pump closer to the fuel tank. I have been looking into the FASS pump that mounts on the frame near the tank. I know most gassers have their pumps in the tank and I am not sure if I would want that. I had a 97 Dodge Dakota that had an in tank pump that when you let it get past half empty the pump would heat up and loose fuel pressure. That was after 157k on the clock.

I still believe my problem is somewhere in the fuel system. It may not be the LP or related to the pump but it is still having some issues. Fuel conditioner and fuel quality seem to determine how mine acts.

Surprisingly no... But then again we don't see a ton of modded trucks

Was cruising down the road yesterday after work and noticed a sudden drop in power and check engine light came on. Turned around and headed to dealership and dropped off. They left me a vmail today saying it was the lift pump and they are on national backup order. Good thing I have the MaxCare ext. warranty!! I get a loaner/rental car til I get truck back.

This will be the second one since 12/28/04!! It was in the shop for 10 days last time.

Tomeygun: On my invoice when it happened back in Dec. they put an injector pump with part# R5104877-AA (fuel pump 14073001) on the truck. Is this the new or old designed one? Also, do you have the new design part number and do you know if it will cure the problem?

Thanks
