Maximum, safe, short duration EGT's???
Hey guys, I just did a 1/4 mile run tonight, with everthing turned up for the 1st time. My egt's got to 1540*, my boost was@ 38#. This was only for a split second at the end of the run just before letting off the throttle, the boost was at this level for about half the distance. I didn't redo the run in Edge5/BDPP3 again because of this. I know nothing went wrong I was just being extra cautious. So I was wondering, what is too high even short term on this engine?
That's pretty high!
I wouldn't do that too often..... You may want to look into getting a 4" downpipe that replaces the 3.5" elbow on the back of the turbo or just get one of the newer elbows that are 4". My temps dropped 100 degrees w/ my Banks downpipe...

Hey Big, If you look on the performane thread, you'll see I'm way ahead of you on that one
. I'm also thinking of getting water/meth. Seeing how I only get these tems when dragging, a quick shot of 75%h2o/25%meth would give me a little more hp, with a lot of cooling effect.

Sorry bout that lets see here, 14.1@102mph, 2.1 60ft. I know I'm a little fast for the times, I can't get a great launch yet having a 2wd and all. As you can see by my 60ft. times. Soebody on here said if a could get a 1.7-1.8, I should get down to 13.5.

Pre or post turbo EGT's? Replacing the elbow with a 4" unit will considerably lower your backpressure adn EGT's. The 3.5" unit causes almost twice the backpressure as a 4" elbow at the turbo outlet.

Well, I had a little fun yesterday with my new turbo and with both boxes on high I saw a new high for my truck of 1500 degrees!! With my stock turbo I never saw higher than 1350 degrees. I wasn't there for long though. I was at 42psi.... It smokes a lot less now with the new turbo but still gives me a nice plume when I first hammer it....
