lube time

coming up on the 20,000 mile mark. im going to change all the lube oils and greases. engine oil, tranny, X-case, front and rear diff's, fuel filter, and airfilter. i think im going to get rid of that k&N. what is a good airfilter, one that still protects and lets the turbo sing out through it. ( i really want a whistler from ******)

ok, what is the very best, slickest, bestist lubes to put in what? i have valvoline (SP?) premein blue for the crank case, and fleat guard oil filter, so im good there.

as far as tranny and t-case and diff's, i dont tow heavy, or race. its a daily driver with 2 600 mile trips twice a month fer work.

lets say money is a non factor, i plain on having this thing as long as diesel stays below $4 a gallo... oh hold on, i mean $4.15 a ...... no, well, how long will $5 get me? well, im going to act like im going to keep it a long time i guess

I always use Amsoil 75/ 140 in the diffs, but they also make a good 75/110. I use Amsoil ppretty much ever where! I have used the synthetic 15/40 by them as well but due to cost I am sticking with the Valvoline PB.

If you don't tow then Amsoil 75/90 Severe Gear lube will work just fine. As for diesel oil your choice is either 15w40 or 5w30 HDD like I use. I use Fleetguard oil filter so I will change the filter out at 6 months or 7500 miles and a full oil change at 1 year. With the high cost of diesel I don't think the oil will see 12K in a full year. As for air filter get a Amsoil Nano fiber replacement filter ( I think they have one that will fit on the K&N tube) an its good for 4 years or 100K. Also the Nano filters can be cleaned with air so you don't have to worry about the filter being over oiled and or letting oil and dirt get to the turbo and screwing it up like I've seen in a few photos posted on line.

I know a cummins engineer and they said to change the oil MINIMUM 3X a year regardless of mileage as the acids build up and can harm the engine/oil even if being used. Bypass might get it longer. I don';t have that problem as I am doing about 3,000 miles a month right now.

so, its Amsoil, or, Amsoil.

kinda thought there was more options out there. i dont know why people are mentioning crank case oil, i already said i have Valvoline premium blue, and fleet guard oil filter.

can/do i run the same stuff in the tranny as the transfer case?

how much does the the front and rear diff take? the T-case? trany?

No Man, there are other options out there...I would use Delo, Rotella, or Delvac in the engine, air filter would be AFE Proguard 7 or S@B (Aftermarket) there are drop in options for AFE I know for sure, if you're stock than whatever brand (Fleetguard probably best) Fuel filter Fleetguard, or Baldwin. Oil Filter Donaldson or Fleetguard for sure. Trany, anything ATF 4 Rated (t-case too). Diffs, any 75W90 synthetic.

I know now that AFE makes Oil and Fuel Filters that are high efficiency (good micron rating) now.
