Post Looking for VIN help

Hi guys I am back to the Dodge diesel world after a bad decision on buying a Ford. Let me say I am glad to be back
Iam looking at a 2003 Ram 2500 Laramie and wondering what gear ratio it has along with any warranty work that has been done to it. I would appreciate any info possible.

VIN

3D7KA28C33G783630

Thanks in advance.

Here's a link that should allow you to check on any recall work done or not done. Also, perhaps the Customer Service link can help. Good luck!

At 70 mph, factory tires, a 4:10 ratio will be above 2000 rpm. A 3:73 will be just below 2000 rpm.

I tried it, got the gear ratio and such so that was very helpful.
Big problem I'm having is that Chrysler is stating the warranty service records are proprietary and they will not give me that information??

Any other ideas with respect to the warranty and service records?

Thanks
Jimmy

Welcome to the site!
In order to get a "Build Sheet",stop by a Dodge dealer and provide them with the 17 digit vin number from your truck. They can print out a detailed build sheet with each option your truck has.

You can also try www.dodge.com and click on the "Owners" header. Create an account... and fill in the questions asked about your vehicle. This is known as Owner Connect and will provide you with any updates and information regarding recalls and TSB's associated with the vehicle.

Try the following link. Located at the bottom of the page you will see The following: Recall Search
Search for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, FIAT or SRT recalls using your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

This vehicle shows that it has an outstanding or incomplete safety recall to install the out of park alarm system.

SAFETY RECALL TO INSTALL AN OUT-OF-PARK ALARM SYSTEM
Dear: (Name)
This letter is being sent to you in order to address a serious safety concern, and to facilitate the continued safe
operation of your vehicle. DaimlerChrysler Corporation will install an Out-of-Park Alarm System in 2003
through 2005 model year Dodge Ram Heavy Duty Pickup Trucks equipped with an automatic transmission and
a diesel engine.

This software modification will help ensure that you have properly placed the shifter lever fully into the “Park”
position before attempting to exit the vehicle. In the event that the “Park” position is accidentally not achieved, the
alarm system will provide an audible and visual alert to the operator.

The problem is... DaimlerChrysler has determined that, in certain circumstances when a driver has not placed the shifter lever fully into the “Park” position and leaves the engine running, the vehicle may unexpectedly move rearward after seeming to be stable. Unintended rearward movement of a vehicle could injure those in and/or near the vehicle.
As with all vehicles, you should never exit the vehicle while the engine is running and should always remove the key from the ignition and apply the parking brake before leaving the vehicle.
What your dealer will do... DaimlerChrysler will modify your vehicle (VIN: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) free of charge
(parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will install an Out-of-Park Alarm System in your vehicle’s computer. The work will take about one hour to complete. However, additional time may be necessary depending on how dealer appointments are scheduled and processed. What you must do to ensure your
safety...Simply contact your dealer right away to schedule a service appointment. Remember to bring this letter with you to your dealer.

If you need help... If you have questions or concerns which your dealer is unable to resolve, please contact
DaimlerChrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
Please help us update our records, by filling out the enclosed prepaid postcard, if any of the conditions listed on the
card apply to you or your vehicle. Be sure to print the last eight (8) characters of the VIN (VVVVVVVV) and
notification code E17 on the postcard.
If your dealer fails or is unable to remedy this condition without charge and within a reasonable time, you may
submit a written complaint to the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 400 Seventh
Street, S.W., Washington, DC 20590, or call the toll-free Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-
424-9153), or go to http://www.safercar.gov.
We're sorry for any inconvenience, but we are sincerely concerned about your safety. Thank you for your attention
to this important matter.

I seen that one, it doesn't seem like a big deal. What I would really like is the warranty and service work records. Those records are the ones that Chrysler is stating are proprietary.

Anyone know a way to get those records? Carfax and autocheck don't show any, but I know based on checking on my ford I just got rid of carfax and autocheck don't have all the records from dealers.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Is Chrysler suggesting this because you are not the current owner of the Dodge yet?

No, they think I am the current owner, I registered at the owners site with that VIN, Chrysler won't tell me anything else but that can't access that info as it is proprietary. I even asked if it is due to it being from the Daimler time and after that question Chrysler didn't respond to me any more.

Not trying to hyjack the thread but on this recall /reflash ----> Didn't a few folks say they hated the horn blowing and lights flashing when they were backing or hooking up trailers once the reflash was done? Was it that the alert would sound if the seatbelt wasn't fastened and backing up?
