Some had alternator brackets that cracked. I'd also check for the updated power steering hose that supplies the brake hydrobooster (new style hose will have a weight and crimp mid-span in the pressure supply line to the hydrobooster), and check the ball joints.

I bought my 03 w/ 60k on the clock. It's nearly at 80k now and I have had no real major problems. Ball joints are still fine, and everything is in good shape.

If you do pick one up, look for a HO(high output), I got a SO(standard output), nothing wrong with a SO. Just a HP difference and a couple other small things.

Also be weary of the lift pumps. They tend to crap out often, especially with mods.

Besides that, enjoy riding in a 3rd gen.

Go thru the 4hi & 4lo gears...the 03 i looked at had a horrible grinding when switched into 4wd.
