Make sure it starts, mine only starts about 65% of the time, has since drove off lot Jan/06. Also make sure the passenger side visor is tight, mine fell off in my wife's lap at 15k. Just thought you ought to know what you might have to deal with, 06's have been known not to start. However i have a buddy and talked to others who's start fine, apparantely i just get shafted no matter what i drive. Had a POS 6.0 Furd before this

I thought about this while driving tonight and had an idea. I pulled the oil change reminder sticker off of my windshield and stuck it over the light. You know, the one that is held to the windshield by static electricity or surface tension, or however they do it so it sticks without glue. It sticks to the plastic over the gauges, too, and comes right off without making a mess. You could get a few spares and cover up seat belt lights or check engine lights if you needed to.

I drove the automatic and it was clear to both me and my passenger that the G56 made for smoother shifting and driving even around town. Plus, with being able to start in second gear without needing to add any accelerator, it's not like there is any "getting used to" or trick method to driving it.
glad you feel that way - I'm picking up my '07 3500 Laramie Mega cab 6x4 (DRW) 6-spd within two weeks or so. Also getting it @ Dave Smith.
This is a most excellent thread - great advice, tips & info.

I'll try to contribute. I did some extensive dealer searching (via dodge.com inventory) with many price queries - DSmith does indeed have the most massive 3500 inventory I came across and also best pricing. Their invoice price is slightly higher than what I found on nadaguides.com however, +$691. Apparently this is due to some port fee (above the $900) or another... they still bested anything else out there (that I could find).

& 1 q - I'd like to get the PAC PRXB exhaust brake dealer installed (their quote = $1350) but am also likely to be doing an exhaust mod at some point. What is the stock config (3.5"-5") ~ I'm concerned about compatibility/retrograde of the brake if I change to a 5" pipe later.

TIA,
Dane

Dealer probably won't tell you that the famous Chrysler 7/70 drivetrain warranty ended with the 2005's.

'07 ordered.

I drove an '06 auto off a local lot and after enjoying my superb DTT 47re for years now, couldn't stand the sucker. I knew if i bought that truck I'd be out at Desert Diesel Parts spending $4,000+ upgrading that auto. Consequently,I went with the G-56. Looking forward to the control and rowing except in traffic. Considering Dave Smith installing the Mopar exhaust brake too.

I agree. Even my wife wishes we had gotten the manual. I also wish we had gotten the tow mirrors and sliding back glass. I love everything else though. Oh the AC isn't that great and my seat cloth is pretty low quality. I'm looking at getting some Okole seat covers though.

Mine has a 7/100,000. I thought that was standard w the CTD equipped trucks.
