Leveling truck

On my 04.5 4x4 3500 Dually I would like to level it. Instead of raising the front why not lower the rear? I looked at the springs on top of the rearend and there's two big spacers about 5/8 thick each between the springs and rearend. If these were taken out would there be any problems?

seems like lowering the rear would be a bad choice if you plan on towing. you want it up so with the extra weight it will squat and not bottom out

do a search, people have done it. Mine has spacers that could be put ontop, then use same u-bolts. I would recommend putting bilstein shocks with the 2 inch levelers, you will think you have a new truck it will ride so much better. I put the Bilstein leveling kit, (longer coils with more turns and the shocks, best money I have spent on truck.

I lowered mine in the back doing what was just said. To make it easier, spend the $20 or so and buy new u-bolts to start with as on the two trucks I have done this one at least one gives problems going back together. I tow (but not all the time) and have never had any problem at all, but I am not near the max capacity either.

The truck already sets so high in the back that it's hard for me to see in the bed. The only thing we tow is a 28ft car trailer,so I don't think it well bother it much. The trailer loaded weighs in at 7,000lbs. If I would raise the front end what is best? A taller spring or 2in. spacer.
